How to support Maui wildfire relief efforts with cryptocurrency
Over the past week, the island of Maui has been hit by a series of devastating wildfires that have ravaged local communities. Based on the most recent County of Maui Wildfire Update for August 14th, the death toll for the fire has risen to 96 confirmed fatalities, although this number is expected to increase in coming days, with hundreds of people still missing. Furthermore, an estimated 2,200 structures have been damaged or destroyed, with 2,170 acres of land being burned. To respond to this crisis, many humanitarian organizations are active on the ground, providing relief support in the form of housing, food, medical services, search and rescue efforts, and more.
The Web3 community has always been strong to respond to global crises, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, and the Syria and Turkey Earthquake in 2023. In light of the wildfires in Maui, there are also many ways that you can support those working on the ground in Hawaii to provide humanitarian and emergency relief. In this article, we highlight five ways that you can use your cryptocurrency to support this lifesaving work.
