3 - Inspiring crypto/blockchain quotes

“10y ago I thought that the market of resources, property rights, trade, etc are the most important processes in the world. Today I think much more about the ecosystem of discussion and spread of memes / culture / ideas. The latter follows quite different laws from the former!”

Vitalik Buterin, Founder, Ethereum

“The power and advantages of decentralization are becoming increasingly clear. We deserve a financial system where no one can be censored or excluded from full participation.”

Silvio Micali, Founder, Algorand

Cryptographic truth is a superior way for the entire world to operate. Once you experience the transparency, personal control and lower risks of a world powered by truth, rather than a world backed only by "just trust us" ideas, you simply cannot go back.

Sergey Nazarov, Founder, Chainlink

2 - Reflections from this week’s blog

NFTS, in many ways, have gotten a bad rap, due to their rapid rise in prices and popularity, leading many to conclude that they are a purely speculative instrument that will inevitably cause financial doom for unsuspecting “bag holders”. However, the more I look into NFTs, the more I’m inspired by their utility as an instrument for social good. We are already seeing this happen today with some individuals and groups using NFTs as a tool to fundraise for charitable causes. One example of this involves Beeple, a well-known NFT creator, selling his Ocean Front NFT for $6 million and donating the proceeds to The Open Earth Foundation. What I’m most excited about, however, are all the new and innovative ways that NFTs can be used for social good that haven’t yet been imagined.

A key theme of focus for my blog this week is health care. In my recent blog post, “Three blockchain projects positively disrupting the health care sector” I highlighted three amazing projects using blockchain to improve health care. With COVID-19 continuing to wreak havoc around the world, I believe there is no better time to be having the conversation about blockchain’s role in future health care than now. COVID-19 has shown us how important it is to have systems that are efficient, coordinated, reliable, and transparent when formulating an effective pandemic response. Blockchain can, and I believe will, play an essential role in helping health care organizations implement these systems into their operations in the future.
